The Warrior Basketball team celebrated senior night with a win on February 10th with a score of 83-49 against the Moshannon Valley Knights. Before the start of the game, the team honored their lone senior, Kyle Kolesar. Kyle has been a varsity basketball team member for the past four years. He recently committed to Lock Haven University to play football and will study Sports Management. “I put a lot of work in the last four years and to see the community come out and support me meant a lot,” Kolesar said.
Joel Evans won the tip-off to start the game. The Warriors’ lone senior scored the first points. The Warriors created a decent lead at the beginning of the quarter before the Knights began to fight their way back. By the end of the first quarter, the Warriors were up by 13, scoring 25-12 over the Knights.
The Warrior lead continued to increase during the second quarter, going into halftime with a 49-24 score. Owen Koleno had a tough battle against the Knights, making his way to the foul line on multiple occasions. He ended the night with 20 points.
The Warriors did not let up in the second half, increasing their lead in the third quarter to 68-36. The Warriors were ahead by over 30 points, so the running clock began. Kolesar started to catch fire in the third quarter. With a total of 20 points, Kyle earned himself his career high. He ended the night with four three-point shots and four layups. The fourth quarter went by quickly, creating a final score of 83-49 for the Warrior victory.
The Warriors will host their last regular season game on Monday, February 13th, against Williamsburg. The junior varsity will start at 6:00 p.m., and the varsity will follow. The Warriors are currently ranked third for the District 6 playoffs. The first playoff game’s date is undetermined at this time.
