The West Branch baseball team has recently acquired a new coach. One of our school resource officers, Aaron Tiracorda, has become the new head coach of the West Branch Baseball team. Recently, Mr. Learish stepped down after five years of coaching the baseball team.
The team was triumphant last season, with the two graduating seniors, Owen Graham and Zach Tiracorda, having record-breaking statistics. Despite losing two seniors, they have two promising pitchers to replace them. Although they had a limited role in the last season, Luke Liptak and Lukas Colton have progressed significantly and have incredible potential.
Offensively, the team has Lukas Colton and Isaac Tiracorda, who have a combined 53 runs, five home runs, and 52 RBIs from last season. The only senior on the team, Logan Folmar, had a successful second half of the 2022 season and is still improving. Zach McGonigal also had a lot of improvement last season, and Coach Tiracorda said that he wants Zach to focus on mastering one position instead of multiple. Brody Rothrock also improved defensively and showed some offensive spark at times.
Coach Tiracorda says that there are multiple positions up for grabs. With a large group of freshmen and many capable players from the sophomore and junior classes, competition for the spots on the team will be fierce and very interesting. Coach Tiracorda said, “Coach Learish really did a nice job developing this team over the last 5 seasons. Learish stepped down in the off-season so this will be my 1st year as Head Coach.”
The West Branch baseball team is on track to have one of their best seasons yet. The incredible potential suggests it may be a very eventful season. Coach Tiracorda has high hopes for the season and will help the team become better than ever before.
