On Tuesday, April 11th, the Lady Warriors Softball team faced Curwensville at their strike-out cancer game. The Warriors got another win and raised $173. The money raised was donated to the Sue Betts and Family Scholarship.
Curwensville scored one run in the first inning and two in the fourth to make the score 3-0. However, the Lady Warriors did not let this phase them, and in the 5th inning, they tied the game up at 3-3. The tie gave the Lady Warriors momentum because, in the 6th inning, they tacked on six more runs and ended the game with a score of 9-3.
Makena Moore has been playing a massive role in the Warriors’ success so far this season, and we can expect more of this as she only allowed three runs on three hits. Hannah Betts also played a great game, scoring two runs for the team. Alaina Royer hit a triple, as Brooke Bainey hit a double and scored three RBIs for the Lady Warriors.
Senior Betts said, “We started off slow with the bats, but our defense remained strong. When we hit the fifth inning, our bats broke loose, and we tied the game up. By the end of the sixth inning we were pretty confident and continued to earn more runs” Kamryn MacTavish, shortstop for Warriors, followed up by saying, “It took us a while to get used to the pitcher we were facing, but by the fifth inning we were all in. We all got out of our heads and put in 100% to get the lead. When one person started hitting, we all started hitting. We played a great game, and I’m glad we won!”
The Lady Warrior Softball team will play again on April 13th, at home against Bellwood-Antis. The game starts at 4:30 p.m., so be sure to wish the Lady Warriors luck as they continue their winning streak one hit at a time.
