Summer Baseball Season Overview

West Branch students excel in summer baseball.

West Branch baseball players Isaac Tiracorda, Lukas Colton, and Luke Liptak all had successful summer ball seasons. Colton and Liptak were part of the Baseball U Central PA team and Isaac Tiracorda was part of the Philipsburg Phils Legion team. There were also some successful underclassmen in Sr. Little League playing for Kylertown.

The Philipsburg Phils had West Branch’s catcher Isaac Tiracorda, along with two West Branch alumni Zack Tiracorda and Owen Graham, who were a part of the year priors state championship run. The Philipsburg Phils team consisted of players from West Branch, Moshannon Valley, and Philipsburg. They were undefeated through the regular season, and eventually lost in the semifinals of the Region 7 tournament to Beech Creek with a score of 5-3 through eight innings. The Phils ended up finishing with a record of 17-1. 

Baseball U Central PA had Luke Liptak and Lukas Colton who did exceptional on the mound. Lukas Colton had a record of 3-1 while pitching and Luke Liptak had a record of 7-2. As a team, they were placed in the top three in a lot of tournaments and even won the Firecracker Sweet Spot Classic going 6-0 while there. After winning, Luke Liptak said, “It was great to finally feel like all the work we put in through the last couple of years paid off.”

During the summer, there was also Sr. Little League that a couple of West Branch underclassmen played in. Kylertown had sophomores Dylan Mcgonigal, Nick Parks, and Peyton Kephart. They also had Juniors Logan Liptak and Chad Smerk. Kylertown made it to the championship game where they eventually fell to Bald Eagle by a score of 5-4. 

With all of these players being back together this season, it will be exciting to see what else they can accomplish with West Branch baseball.
