Next week at Key Largo’s restaurant in Morrisdale,  a few art club members are helping Mrs. Steffan install West Branch student artwork. The timing of the West Branch Art Exhibit at Key Largos was specifically coordinated to align with Lent which starts on Feb. 14.

The restaurant sees higher than usual traffic during that period of time, due to their fish dinner. This means more eyes on the artwork! The display will remain for about a month, then it comes back to West Branch as part of our spring art show, in conjunction with the band and chorus concerts. This partnership presents a valuable opportunity in which our students will experience what it’s like to participate in an art exhibit outside of the school building. Those students who assist with setting up the exhibit will learn about the process of curating and installing an art show. The student art exhibit will showcase the achievements of our art program and highlight the pride we take in our students’ accomplishments.  Members of the community will have the chance to see what our students are working on in art classes. It’s always a positive experience to bring artistic and cultural events and exhibits into any community. The display will consist mostly of drawing and painting created by high school and middle school artists.

Mrs. Steffan mentioned, “I had hoped to exhibit work from 2D Art as well, but the second semester recently began and we are not yet ready to display.” She also has a personal goal, stating, “My goal is to make this into an annual tradition. I would love to expand to other businesses and venues in the area, though this can be a bit challenging, as we live in such a small community, but I have some ideas to investigate for next year, such as doctor and dentist offices.”

So if you are looking to get a delicious fish dinner while looking at our students’ artwork, don’t be shy to stop by, take a bite and be mesmerized!
