The West Branch Lady Warriors start the season strong with a record of 3-1. Multiple players have scored and assisted in some hard-fought games.

On August 27th, the Lady Warriors traveled to their first game against the Rockwood Rockets. It was a back-and-forth game with the Warriors winning 3-2. Junior Sydney Sankey scored the first goal of the game with an assist by freshman Nola Briscoe. Senior Sarah Guglielmi tacked on the next goal off of a corner kick taken by Briscoe. This gave her her second assist of the game. With less than 7 minutes left of the match, Guglielmi scored her second goal with a PK, securing the win.  Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Prestash made four important saves.

The Lady Warriors played their next game at Forest Hills on August 29th. The Warriors faced their first loss of the season with a 2-6 defeat. Guglielmi scored the first goal. The second goal was scored by sophomore Aubree Good from a deflection off the goalie, giving Good her first goal of the season. Despite losing the game, Prestash had an impressive seven saves.

On September 3rd, the Lady Warriors played their first home game against Northern Bedford. After high anticipation by the team, the Warriors came out on top winning 4-0. Kaylea Fenush had her first goal of the season. Sankey scored a hat trick. Guglielmi and McKenzie Harbold both had an assist. Prestash added three saves to the game.

In their most recent game on September 5th, the Lady Warriors secured their third victory of the season with a 1-0 overtime win. Fenush scored her second goal of the season, clinching the win, while Prestash made four crucial saves to keep the team in the game.

Although the Lady Warriors lost nine seniors due to graduation, the start of this season has been successful. Junior Natalie Yingling shared her thoughts on the team’s performance, saying, “I think we have been so successful because of our confidence level. Losing the nine seniors did hit the team hard with the skill and the numbers we had, but we all want this bad.”

The Warrior’s next game is away at Tussey Mountain on Thursday, September 12th, at 6:00 PM.
