Tips for Fantasy Football after Week 1

After Week 1, standout performances and key injuries shake up the lineup.

It’s fantasy football season and every couch quarterback has analyzed and reanalyzed their lineup, but Week 1 of the season shook up every manager’s roster.

There were many big games the first week of the season but the biggest star of Week 1 was the Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Fantasy championship winner Owen Koleno says,” He was the better value pick over Puka”. He had 14 receptions, 110 yards, and a touchdown. He also had an absurd 21 targets. Another over-performer in Week 1, Isaiah Likely,  is currently the highest-ranked tight end after putting up 9 receptions, 111 yards, and a touchdown.

A huge injury this week was Christian McCaffrey. Seasoned fantasy manager Bella Koleno says, ”It’s very frustrating when you want to get off to a good start on the season and your first overall pick can’t give you the points you need. If you pick McCaffery you base your team off of that so you just have to hope he gets healthy”. He was, for most leagues, the number one pick. In his absence, you can pick up his backup running back Jordan Mason. You could also pick up Raiders running back Alexander Mattison. He found the endzone in Week 1 and has a high receiving upside.

If you are low on quarterbacks or need one, Baker Mayfield is a good quarterback to pick up. He is currently ranked number three among the positions. Many managers will panic after Week 1 and trade people who did badly. Like Marvin Harrison Jr, Chris Olave, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Brandon Aiyuk. Don’t overreact just for one week, especially the first week. There are some very big sell-high players. This includes Jayden Reed, following the injury to Jordan Love. His productivity won’t be the same. JK Dobbins hasn’t stayed healthy a whole season, and Rhamondre Stevenson is in a bad offense. So don’t be fooled by their over performances in Week 1.

My number one start for Week 2 is Drake London against the Eagles. The Eagles have a weak secondary and it will be a high-scoring match-up. My number one bench is any receiver for the Packers. With quarterback Jordan Love getting injured, they will have a questionable performance. My sleeper pick is receiver Devaughn Vele from the Broncos. Vele had 8 receptions in his first career game.

Week 1 shuffled many line-ups for Week 2, and forced managers to rethink their starting line-ups. Good luck in all of your match-ups!
