Elaina McClelland started teaching at West Branch in the 2022-2023 school year. She serves as the geometry, pre-calculus, and Honors Calculus teacher at West Branch. She is also the advisor of student government and the junior class advisor, which takes a lot of extra time outside of school to plan the dances, pep rallies, assemblies, and meetings.

McClelland graduated from the Moshannon Valley School District in 2018 where she spent her time playing soccer and basketball during her high school years. She also participated in the National Honor Society, Ac-Dec, math club, and history club, and during the spring season, she spent her time keeping stats for the varsity softball team. After graduating high school, she attended Clarion University to get two bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education and one in mathematics. She completed her Masters Degree in Instructional Strategies from Wilkes University this summer.

McClelland is a very hard-working teacher who shows her students so much love and courage throughout the classroom and is very passionate about her students’ grades and their academic excellence. Last school year she won the WOW Award which shows how outstanding she is as a teacher and the effort she puts into her roles. The WOW Award is awarded to teachers throughout the school district for their outstanding teaching. She always is up to doing a task and doing everything possible for her students to succeed either in the classroom or during the clubs that she is in charge of. She said, “Getting to work with students to make these high school experiences possible is worth it. I love getting to know the students and hopefully make a positive impact on their time at WB”.

Many West Branch students think very highly of her for what she does for the school district. Junior, Natalie Yingling talks about her very passionately and stated,  “I have huge respect for her. She has made any class that I dislike turn into a very fun class and makes it easy to understand. She is one of the nicest teachers I have ever met. She always makes sure that you’re okay and everything is going smoothly either with her class or in life.”
