February 23, the Northern Cambria Colts came to Morrisdale to take on the reigning District VI champions. Northern Cambria burst out of the gate with a quick layup on the Warriors. Both teams had several empty possessions before the Colts scored another layup. Easton Emigh broke the ice for the Warriors with a tough layup. The Colts and Warriors then traded buckets, but a Colts three-pointer gave Northern Cambria a six-point lead. Owen Koleno followed with a three-pointer of his own. The Warriors then cut the score down to 14-11 going into the second quarter.

The Colts started the quarter with an and-one layup to gain some momentum. Coby Kephart responded with a three-pointer of his own. The Warriors started to struggle on offense, and the Colts went on a 6-0 run. The run was halted by an Easton Emigh layup, but a buzzer-beater for the Colts gave them all of the momentum going into the half.

The Colts started the second half by scoring three unanswered buckets until a Koleno layup broke the silence for the Warriors. West Branch then gained some momentum with a few scores and a three-pointer from Lukas Colton. The rest of the quarter was quiet for both teams.

West Branch started the fourth quarter with four straight points, then the Colts and Warriors traded scores. The Warriors fought until the end, but the Colts ultimately pulled away.

Joel Evans also reached 1,000 rebounds in this game—a major accomplishment. It is the first in West Branch history and only the second in district history. Joel Evans commented on this accomplishment, “Getting my 1000 rebounds was one of the greatest feelings ever. I was the first ever to achieve this goal for west branch boys basketball and it was so fun. Our community celebrated my achievement and it showed how awesome West Branch is.”

The Warriors’ season has officially ended. They finished with a record of 20-6.
