The Warriors season came to a close, but there was nothing to be ashamed of for the 2024-2025 season. They made it to the district semifinals, and ICC championships, won the Moshannon Valley League, and won the ICC North League. On top of winning the Mo Valley League and ICC North, they went undefeated in both of them, which was the first time that this was done in school history ending the season with a 20-6 record.
The team’s success was led by Owen Koleno’s scoring ability, Joel Evans having his way on the boards, Lukas Colton’s passing, Easton Emigh’s driving, Logan Liptak and Coby Kephart’s defensive show-outs, and Dylan McGonigal’s shooting ability. Despite his midseason season-ending injury, he still led the team with 45 3-point shots. He was on a roll with his shooting before his injury. The JV players also played a huge role in the team’s success. Many of the players had their chance to step up and help the team, and when the time came, they did their jobs. The JV was also crucial in helping the varsity prepare for the upcoming games.
Along with the Warrior team’s success, there were several major accomplishments for some of the players. Senior, Owen Koleno beat his own single-season scoring record that he set last year. He beat his previous record of 586 with an astonishing 601 points this season. He also climbed his way up to the second-highest scorer in school history. Along with this, fellow senior Joel Evans did some amazing things this year as well. He hit his 1000th point this year, which is rarely done. Something that is even more rare, though, is how he ended his career with 1000 rebounds. This is something that has only been done a handful of times in the MVL and ICC leagues, and he joined the club this year. Congrats to both of them as they shined throughout not only this year, but their careers as well. Lastly, this was Coach Clark’s last year as head coach. Accounting for 212 wins in his career, he was one of the best coaches in the history of the program.
The senior graduates this year were one of the winningest groups of all time, accounting for 75 wins in their careers. Senior Logan Liptak says, “The team’s success this year was very high. I am saying this because of the fact we won 20 games, we were Mo-Valley League Champions and ICC North Champions. We also had players on our team reach big milestones like Joel getting 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. We also had our head coach get his 200th win. We may not have reached quite as high as we did last year, but we did accomplish a lot.” The Warriors hope to succeed next year as well, but they will have to work hard due to the loss of several key graduating seniors. Good luck!
