West Branch massacres the Vikings 16-2

West Branch got off to a hot start and didn’t look back.

The Warriors traveled to Glendale on Tuesday, and they left their mark in Flinton, PA. Logan Liptak got the nod on the mound, and he did what he had to do. He had earned the win for the Warriors, as he went 4 innings and won by mercy rule. In those four innings, he gave up four hits and two runs, while striking out seven and walking 3 batters.

The first inning started off with Coby Kephart reaching on error, and Lukas Colton walking. Caleb Hudson came up and singled, scoring both of the runners, and got the Warriors off to a great start. This is where they took off, as they batted through the lineup, and they tallied 7 runs to start the game. Logan Liptak took over, and he did not disappoint as he shut down the side, blanking the Vikings in the first inning. Logan has been great throughout the season so far, as he has been nothing but reliable for the team.

The Warriors picked up where they left off, scoring nine more runs in the next three innings. This accumulated to 16 runs, causing the mercy rule to come into effect in the fifth inning. For this to happen, you need to be up by at least ten runs by the fifth, and they did just that. Liptak was the all-star for this game, as he pitched very well and he also went 2-2 with 2 runs batted in.

Logan Liptak speaks of the team’s success: “We went in there and did what we needed to do. We capitalized on their mistakes, we put the ball in play, and we pitched and fielded well. It was a great opportunity to get some freshmen and sophomores in the game”.

The Warriors are now 6-4, and they stay at home to take on Claysburg-Kimmel, who is 7-4, on Thursday. Good luck, Warriors!
