The Warrior Baseball team traveled to Southern Huntington for a non-league matchup. The Rockets came in with a 1-10 record, while the Warriors came in with an 8-4 record.

The game started out favoring the Warriors with a Caleb Hudson double, scoring one run. Logan Liptak followed this with a four-pitch first inning. The second inning was where the momentum shifted towards the Rockets. The Rockets’ leadoff hitter was hit by a pitch. This was followed by a double, which led to runners on second and third. One of these runners scored on an error, making the score 1-1. The Rockets’ eighth batter in their lineup came up with runners on second and third and hit a three-run homer to left center field, making the score 4-1

Porter Ryen led off with a single in the top of the third inning. Coby Kephart followed with a walk. Caleb Hudson singled, scoring a run, making it 4-2. Nick Parks walked, loading the bases. Gavin Rotherock singled up the middle and scored another run, making the score 4-3.

The Rockets bounced back immediately on their next chance to bat. Hitting a single, then hitting another home run, this one to center, making the score 6-3.

Coby Kephart singled in the top of the fourth inning. Lukas Colton hit a high fly ball to right field and reached on an error. This error scored a run, and Colton advanced to second base.

The game stayed at the score of 6-4 for the rest of the game. Although the Warriors had 8 hits and the Rockets had 5 it was not enough to come out on top.

Hansen Lannen states, “We played a good game. We hit the ball well. Baseball does this to you sometimes. You can do most things right, and still lose. They scored more runs, that is really all to say. They just beat us”.

The Warriors will be home on Tuesday versus Williamsburg if the weather cooperates.
