The Lady Warrior volleyball team traveled to Glendale on Thursday, September 11th, and won in just 3 sets against the Glendale Lady Vikings. It was a top-two match-up in the Inter County Conference North to see who would take the top spot. The Lady Warrior volleyball team won the first set 25-18 and continued on to win the next two sets, 25-22,25-8, respectively.
The West Branch team showed up ready to play with a powerful offense. Bella Koleno stepped up the offense and led with 11 service points and 13 kills with a 0.324 hitting percentage. Trailing just behind were Lexie Mulhollem with 8 kills and Haley Woodling with 6 kills. The Lady Warrior defense was led by Brielle Bainey with an impressive 25 digs, followed by Kyla Kephart, who also had 9 digs and put up a whopping 29 assists against the Vikings. Skyler Hebel had 8 digs and 8 service points as well.
The middles also had a total of 3 kills combined. Lindsey Bainey, Grace Schwiderske, and Emily Shingledecker came in from the bench and gave the team a big boost during the game. Lindsey Bainey had two aces to carry the team onto a very big run in the third set.
Senior, Kyla Kephart spoke on playing Glendale. “Playing Glendale is always super fun. Their one player plays with us in the club season, and they always give us a great game. The younger girls came in and made an impact. Overall, it was a great game and we battled very well, especially in the second set.”
The JV team also beat the Vikings 2-0. The Lady Warrior volleyball team is still undefeated in the Inter County Conference (5-0) and the Moshannon Valley League. Their current overall record is (17-1-2). The team will travel to St. Francis for a large 30-team tournament on Saturday, the 13th of September.
