Award-winning filmmaker, Penn State Laureate, and Artistic Director of the Centre Film Festival, Pearl Gluck, is hosting a filmmaking program in Phillipsburg to help students become more involved and familiar with filmmaking. Students can experience a five-session series of events, including storytelling, film, podcast, and social media, while gaining behind-the-scenes access. to a professional film festival. CIU10 Program Coordinator Karen Woods says.” Film empowers students to tell stories that matter in a uniquely visual way, enabling them to share their voices with a wider audience that might not otherwise hear them.” Registration is open until October 15. All instruction, access, and materials are provided at no cost.
The first session is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in person at CIU 10, located at 200 Shady Lane, Suite 115, Phillipsburg, PA 16866. This session offers an interactive storytelling workshop, podcasting, and digital media. Students will have the choice to apply to serve on the jury for the High School Award.
Session 2 is on Saturday, November 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rowland Theatre, where students will participate in a masterclass with filmmakers and enjoy a screening at the festival.
Session 3 is on Friday, December 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.” Students can get involved in meaningful media projects, podcasts, short films, stories, or TikToks about some things they care about the most.
Session 4 is being held on Tuesday, January 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at CIU 10. Students who choose to participate will present and workshop their projects in a live StorySlam format.
Session 5 takes place on Wednesday, February 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. As the sessions wrap up, students will receive feedback, polish their projects, and may submit their work to next year’s Centre Film Festival.
