The Lady Warrior volleyball team hosted the Purchase Line Dragons on Monday, September 29, and won in three action-packed sets. The Lady Warriors are ranked first in the district, with Purchase Line right behind them in second, making for a highly competitive matchup.
The Lady Warriors took the first set 25–14 and continued to dominate with scores of 25–19 and 25–15 in the next two sets. The team showed its offensive strength with outside hitter Bella Koleno recording 14 kills. Junior outside hitter Lexie Mulhollem added 8 kills, while opposite hitter Haley Woodling dominated the front row with 12 kills. Middle hitters Maddy Korb (senior) and Kaitlyn Buch (sophomore) each contributed two kills. Libero Brielle Bainey made a big impact on defense with 20 digs.
From the service line, Skyler Hebel recorded 14 points with 8 aces, while Woodling added 12 service points. Kyla Kephart had an impressive performance with 18 service points and 27 assists.
“This game tested us to be at our highest potential. We were expecting a good game from our opponent and came out very strong in the first set,” said Kephart. “I think that the way we have been playing, we will be very successful and make another great playoff run. I am excited to see what we will do going into ICCs and Districts!”
The JV team fell to the Dragons 2–1 in a three-set match. The Lady Warrior volleyball team remains undefeated in the Inter-County Conference and is ranked first in the district. There will be a Pink-Out Game against Moshannon Valley on Tuesday, October 7, followed by Senior Night on Thursday, October 9, against Glendale which is the last regular-season home game of the year. The team will travel to Pottsville on Saturday, October 11, for the Pottsville Classic Tournament.
