The Warrior Basketball team played Curwensville on Monday, February 2nd, for Senior Night, winning 64-33. Before the start of the game, seniors Easton Emigh, Evan Emigh, Noah Gay, Deondrea Horsey, Coby Kephar,t and Dylan McGonigal were recognized along with their parents. The Senior cheerleaders, Ashleghia Grossi and Jordan Walker, were also recognized at the game.
Kephart started the game with the first points for the Warriors. They were up for most of the first quarter, leading 6-2 at halftime. During the first quarter, McGonigal shocked the crowd by dunking after stealing the ball from Curwensville’s offense. This sparked a lot of excitement in the gym. McGonigal also hit a deep three to end the first quarter, making the score 17-4. McGonigal and Kephart had multiple steals in the second quarter. Halfway through the second quarter, the Warriors were still holding strong, leading 24-6. McGonigal had another deep three at the end of the second quarter. This made the score at halftime 33-10. The Tide tried to come back, scoring 6 more points in the middle of the third quarter. However, the Warriors held up, with the score being 40-16. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 52-25. The Warriors had very high energy the whole game, along with the crowd. They continued to score a lot, making the score at mid-fourth quarter 54-20. The seniors were taken out with a minute left in the game. The final score ended up being 64-33, with Kephart scoring the last points. Junior Hansen Lannen says, “That was an awesome win, especially on senior night. After losing at Curwensville earlier in the year, it was very cool to put our foot down this time around.”
It was a night for the seniors. Dylan McGonigal had 31 points, Easton Emigh had 18 points and 7 rebounds, Coby Kephart had 9 points, and Evan Emigh had 10 rebounds. This win brought the Warriors’ record to 5-12 for the season.
