Allport- The Lady Warriors lost in the ICC championship on Saturday October 20th to Fannett-Metal after double-overtime and two rounds of penalty kicks. Fannett-Metal took the lead 1-0 after receiving a free-kick outside the 18-yard box. The free kick was initially saved by West Branch keeper Sarah Betts before falling to the feet of Fannett-Metal where they finished the play with a goal. The rest of the game was back and forth with West Branch possessing the ball the majority of the time. It took the Lady Warriors until just under 8 minutes remaining in the second half to tie the game up 1-1. The Lady Warriors received a corner kick which was taken by Jen Adams. Adams sent in a great cross to Trinity Prestash who was able to get her head on the ball. After a short scramble in front of the Fannett-Metal keeper the ball made it to the back of the net. Neither team was able to finish the job in regulation or in either of the 10 minute overtimes. In the first penalty kick round the Lady Warriors and Fannett-Metal each scored 4 goals forcing another round. In the second penalty kick round the Lady Warriors were unable match Fannett-Metal. Although the Lady Warriors were unable to win their conference championship game their season is not yet over. They will be back in action for the first round of districts on Thursday October 25 at the PO soccer field at 6PM.
