The West Branch Elementary Christmas concert was held recently. The concert included lots of Christmas songs played and sung by band and chorus members, and a demonstration of the West Branch STEAM-E warriors instruments, created by 5th and 6th grade students.
Some of the songs sung by chorus were Jingle Bells, Home for the Holidays, and Let it Snow. Some of the songs band students played were Up on the Housetop, African Noel, and Jolly old saint Nicholas.
The students in STEAM-E were required to make woodwind, percussion, and string instruments. The students then showed them to the audience at the concert. The instruments were made from household items, such as boxes, rubber bands and coffee cans. STEAM-E stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and environment. It is run by Mrs. Carter and Mr. Wood, and includes 5th and 6th grade students.
