On Tuesday, March 5th, there will be a Shrove Tuesday Benefit Pancake Supper to benefit John Gurbal to assist with his medical expenses. John Gurbal is bedridden in the hospital due to arthritis, blood infections, and open sores. The supper is from 5-7 pm and will take place at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanse. Food includes all you can eat pancakes, sausages, and desserts. The cost is a free-will donation.
The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is held every year at Holy Trinity. Shrove Tuesday is celebrated around the world, to mark feasting and celebration. This is because Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent.
Lent is one of the western Christian church seasons, beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is to prepare for Easter, aka Christ’s Ressurection. Many people prepare for Easter by fasting.
Before you start fasting during Lent, come down to Holy Trinity Church and feast on pancakes and sausages! The address and time are listed below:
