The Lady Warrior soccer program hosted its annual boy’s soccer tournament this past weekend. There was a total of thirteen teams that participated, both varsity and Jr. high combined. In the varsity bracket, there were seven teams in total, which included Huntington, Philipsburg, Hollidaysburg, Central Mountain, Altoona, and two teams from Northern Cambria.  The finalists in this bracket came down to Altoona versus a Hollidaysburg team, the Rinkies. Both of these teams consisted of players that have played for many years and have developed skill levels that are hard to match. In the championship, the game was intense and both teams fought hard to try and pull out the win, but in the end, the Altoona team dominated. The final placing was Altoona in first and Hollidaysburg in second in the varsity bracket.

The Jr.high teams ranged from highly skilled travel teams to rec teams trying to get experience. Some of the teams were much younger than other teams in the bracket. All the teams showed their maximum effort and showed their potential in future tournaments. A travel team called the Celtics dominated all day and went undefeated throughout the entire tournament. The kids on this team participate in many tournaments each weekend and have extremely high skill levels within each individual player and as a team. St. Mary’s the other finalist had a successful day as well winning almost all of there games and demonstrated good teamwork. Both teams fought hard throughout this tournament and strived to win the entire tournament. However, when the two teams came head to head, the Celtics pulled out the win over St. Mary’s. The final ranking in the tournament was Celtics in first and St. Mary’s in second. Overall the tournament had a very successful outcome and all the teams had fun competing.
