Football

Although the 2019-2020 football season was not one to remember in terms of the overall record, the Warriors were able to accomplish some amazing feats. Three total school records were broken this season, as Noah Hoffner broke the single-season receiving record and Ayden Gutierrez broke both the single-season passing record and the all-time passing yardage record. Aidan Kephart led the ICC in tackles with 109, Sarah Betts was second in the ICC in PAT’s, Eddie Dale was fifth in the ICC with 508 yards receiving and three touchdowns, and Hoffner and Gutierrez both led the ICC in their respective categories. Trenton Bellomy and Travis Rothrock each caught two touchdown passes, and Camden Kopchik hauled in a touchdown as well. Kopchik also had four interceptions on defense.

The Warriors started the season by going 0-5, losing a close game to rival Moshannon Valley and another close contest to Mount Union on Homecoming. During Week 6, the Warriors won their first game as they beat the Everett Warriors 14-6. In Week 8, the Warriors dominated Williamsburg to get their second win of the season. In the final game of the season, the Warriors trailed the 7-2 Hornets of Juniata Valley 14-13 at halftime. They would go on to lose that game, but the Warriors truly left it all out on the field.

The six seniors will be missed, but with 32 lettermen returning, West Branch has a really bright future.
