As the 2020 softball season begins, the Lady Warriors are eager to get back on the softball field. Coming back from a 10-11 record, the Lady Warriors have high hopes that this season will be a fresh start from the previous season. The team’s goals for this season are to work together and have fun. The team has lost 3 seniors from the previous season, and now has 4 new freshmen to add to the team.
The Lady Warriors are hoping they can win another District Championship in honor of Former Head Coach Denny Arnold. Arnold aka “Pooch” was an inspiration to all of the girls he coached. He helped girls get through tough spots either in a practice or a game. He sadly passed away in November before the season was to begin. Lots of people in the softball community mourned his loss. The Lady Warriors greatly respected Coach Denny and therefore they are playing every game in honor of him.
The Lady Warriors have 8 returning letterwinners who include Ashley Mertz, Emma Miller, Elishea Reed, Sarah Betts, Bri Bone, Morgan Glace, Madison Nelson, and Meghan Cantolina.
The Lady Warriors will be traveling to Roanoke, Virginia for a scrimmage on March 14-15. Their first official game of the season will be on March 20th at Claysburg-Kimmel.
