Warrior Watch
Superintendent Message
Greetings!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students back to West Branch
for the 2018-2019 school year. I hope you had an enjoyable summer break.
The administration and staff have been busy over the summer preparing the
building and programs for your return. Of significant importance are the changes
we have made in the area of safety and security. The District has hired a fulltime
Police Officer to serve our combined Elementary and High School facility. Officer
Reed is a retired PA State Trooper and will bring a strong background and
extensive experience to our school district. It is my hope that you will find Officer
Reed to be both an approachable and helpful addition to our faculty. Additionally,
we have reconfigured our entrance into the High Main Office and will be limiting
who is buzzed into the building. When parents come to pick up students or drop
off something that was left at home, they will remain in the outer locked vestibule
which will decrease the number of visitors with access to students in the building.
We will continue to improve our security and change and/or add new measures
as the school year goes along. Please continue to share your thoughts and ideas
on this subject. Your view of the building and our procedures is very different
from the adult view.
Another change that you will note is that the price for student admission into
events has been lowered to $1.00 per event. Additionally, we will be introducing a
sports pass that will allow student athletes to attend all events free of charge. We
would very much like to see more students attend events and support classmates.
This is a great way to build school spirit among the students. Likewise, we will
work with the faculty to find ways to build a better school climate for students
and staff alike.
As you return to class next week, I hope that you will take full advantage of the
educational opportunities you have here at West Branch. While I understand that
we can improve many things, I do think we offer many good options for students.
We continue to explore how we might improve your time in class, add more
technology that is of interest to students, and renovate our building to meet your
interests.
Best wishes to all West Branch students for a positive and productive school year!
