Landon Bainey has been selected as the Male Athlete of the Week for the week of 1/31/21.
As a freshman wrestler, Landon has been extremely successful this season, ending with a 14-0 record. This is a very impressive accomplishment as he ended the season undefeated. Although, Bainey has put the time and effort into achieving this as he practices and competes all year round. “Landon had a great regular season, going 14-0 and yet to give up a point. His hard work and dedication in the offseason have paid off so far with the postseason set to begin next week. Landon has goals of becoming a 4X State Champ and with his commitment, anything is possible,” says Landon’s father and the WB wrestling head coach Jason Bainey.
Last week, Landon took care of business promptly, which was no surprise to his coaches, teammates, or fans. At the beginning of the week, the Warriors took on Curwensville. Although the team lost, Bainey contributed by pinning his opponent in the first period. Not only did he sweep his opponent quickly at that match, but he also did it again later in the week against his Huntingdon opponent. Landon had an extremely successful week as well as a victorious season. He will now prepare for the individual postseason which begins February 16th at the District 6 Sectional tournament, hosted by Bald Eagle Area High School.
