The West Branch wrestling season is nearly over with their fourth-place finish in sectionals. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the wrestling postseason has changed. The tournament has been split up for five days instead of being three two-day tournaments and fans are allowed to attend the matches. The West Branch wrestlers had 66 points in their matches, losing to first seed, Penns Valley (134.5), second seed Bald Eagle Area (128.0), and third place Philipsburg-Osceola (127.0). The West Branch wrestling beat fifth-place St. Joseph’s Academy (40.5). While sectionals and district wrestling tournaments have passed, West Branch still has two wrestlers, Senior Ethan Yingling (215) and freshman Landon Bainey (106). In sectionals, Ethan and Landon both received first place. Hayes Jones lost in a match for true second place, leaving him out of regionals (the first two seeds from each weight class moves on to the next day).
In regionals, West Branch placed 11th out of 23rd with Landon Bainey earning first place and Ethan Yingling earning second place. These Wrestlers will go to regionals on Saturday, February 27, at 8:00 am.
