After an astonishing first-game win against Philipsburg-Osceola, the West Branch Warriors took on the Claysburg Kimmel Bulldogs at Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg. The game didn’t go as planned for the Warriors, taking the fall to the Bulldogs with an ending score of 20-12.
West Branch started off by winning the coin toss and chose to defend in the second half. In the first quarter, the Warriors were able to score a touchdown, with Tyler Biggans rushing the ball from the 20-yard line, making the score 6-0. The Warriors chose to kick the extra point, bringing in Emma Bucha. Bucha’s kick was slammed down by the Bulldogs causing no extra point, keeping the score 6-0.
Shortly after, the Bulldogs took charge, gaining two passing touchdowns. The Bulldogs chose to kick the extra point both times, completing the PATs and making the score 14-6 at the end of the first half.
Unfortunately, not much went on during the third quarter except for a touchdown by each of the teams, making the score 20-12. In the final quarter, the Warriors were faced with a 4th and goal at the 2, which means that they couldn’t convert and had to give up the ball.
