On Friday, October 22nd, the Warrior Football team lost a heartbreaker game to Bellwood-Antis. Although they lost, the game was by far the team’s best performance this season. Things progressed slowly for the Warriors in the first half, but they fired back in the second half to get the game’s final score of 41-35.

On the first drive, the Warriors could not find an opening, leading them to punt the ball away. The Blue Devils took the opportunity to get the early lead of 7-0. On the next drive, the Warriors struck right back, tying the game up 7-7 with less than five minutes left in the quarter. With roughly one minute to go, the Blue Devils scored again to bring the score to 13-7 and end the first quarter.

The second quarter had begun, and the Warriors struggled to make productivity on the drive, ushering a punt. The Blue Devils then scored and succeeded in the two-point conversion to get the new score of 21-7. The Blue Devils struck again to take their lead even further. The Warriors did not give up, as they went down the field and closed the score to a two-touchdown game of 28-14. Bellwood scored one last time before the half ended to increase their lead.

The third quarter began with a score of 35-14. Still battling hard, the Warriors rushed down the field to end the drive with Tyler Biggans passing a dime to Kyle Kolesar. The Warriors’ defense made another significant stop, and right before the end of the third quarter, West Branch scored to make the ball game 35-28.

To start the fourth quarter, Bellwood drove down and scored once more. Luckily for West Branch, the Blue Devils missed the extra point, keeping the score at 41-28. The Warriors were determined, so they drove down the field once more to close the gap. The West Branch defense got the major stop that the team needed to rush down the field. However, the Blue Devils’ defense held the Warriors short, giving Bellwood the victory.

Despite the loss, the Warrior Football team battled hard. The team will play their final game on Friday, October 28th. West Branch is hosting Senior Night to recognize the football team, marching band, and cheerleading squad, seniors. Cheer for the Warriors one last time this season as they face the Moshannon Valley Knights!
