West Branch running back Derek Yingling has been chosen as the Warrior Watch’s male athlete of the week for the week ending on 9/16/18. Yingling carried the Warriors to a 34-14 victory over Glendale on the road. He carried the ball 38 times for a total of 219 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he was constantly pressuring the Glendale quarterback and recorded a number of tackles. Yingling is one of the leading tacklers in the state of Pennsylvania in Class AA, as well as in rushing yards. Through four games, Yingling has tallied 775 rushing yards, averaging almost 194 yards per game.
“I give all of the credit to my o-line. They are the ones that create room for me to run. Without them, I wouldn’t have any of the success that I’ve had,” Yingling said.
