Track and Field Team Travels to Juniata Valley

The Warriors lose a tri-meet to Juniata Valley and Everett.

On Thursday, April 20th, the Warrior Track and Field team traveled to Juniata Valley for a tri-meet against Everett and Juniata Valley. The boys’ team was 1-1, winning against Juniata Valley, while the girls fell 0-2.

Starting the meet off vital for the Warriors, the boys 4×800 (Jacob Alexander, John Stavola, Sage Carr, and Noah Ryder) prevailed. Unfortunately, the girls’ 4×800 team could not run due to Ciara Condon having an injury.

In the 100 and 110-meter hurdles, Isaiah Bloom placed first against Juniata Valley and second against Everett with a time of 18.5 seconds. Emmie Parks also placed first overall in the 100-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter dash, Craig Fluck (first), Landen Pase (second), and Azadio Vargas (third) all placed against Juniata Valley. While Natalie Yingling tied for third place against Juniata Valley.

In the one-mile, Noah Ryder placed first against Everett and Juniata Valley. Emma Petriskey placed second against Everett and third versus Juniata Valley. Kevin Hurley placed first overall in the two-mile for the Warriors, and the girls had no entry.

Sage Carr placed first overall for the Warriors in the 400-meter dash, while Joel Evans placed second and third place. Skylar Baker ran for second place on the girls’ side against Juniata Valley and Everett.

Moving to the 300-meter hurdles, Jacob Alexander placed first against Juniata Valley and second against Everett with a time of 47.8 seconds. Jessica Batcho got second for the Warriors against both schools.

John Stavola placed first overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08, although the girls did not rank. In the 200-meter dash, Sage Carr placed first against Juniata Valley and second against Everett. Natalie Yinging earned first versus Everett and second against Juniata Valley.

Azadio Vargus and Robert Walker were the only two to place first for the boys on the field against Everett. Azadio won in Shot Put with a 36’6” distance, and Robert in Pole Vault at 9’6”. For the girls’ side, Marley Croyle placed first in Javelin at 99’11”, Shot Put at 25’2”, and Pole Vault at 7’0”. Destiny Koppenhaver placed first in Discus by throwing 75 feet. Jesica Batcho placed first in the high jump, jumping four feet.

Against Juniata Valley, Robert Walker placed first in the Pole Vault and Triple Jump for the Warriors. For the girls, Marley Croyle placed first in Javelin, and Destiny Koppenhaver got first in Discus.

A 4×400 runner, Noah Ryder, said, “We gave it our best and almost set a new school record. That’s all we can really ask for. We will be ready next time.” Best of luck to the Track and Field team as they approach Invitationals!
