On April 9th, the West Branch track team traveled to Juniata Valley to start this month. The track team has lots of returning participants this year. The roster has shown that the team has seven girls and six boys returning as letter winners. The Warriors’ first meet was a tri-meet consisting of West Branch, Southern Fulton, and Juniata Valley. Juniata Valley has had good competitors against West Branch for consecutive years. West Branch had outstanding runners to start this season off strong.

Starting with the 4×800 meter relay our boys” team placed first with a time of 9:47. The relay team includes Jacob Alexander, Sage Carr, Braden Brown, and Drake Witherite. The 4×800 meter relay is when each member of your team runs two laps each, this time is very impressive for such a difficult event. Kevin Hurley received first-place points to help the boys get their first win of the season. Kevin ran the 3200-meter race to beat both the Southern Fulton and Juniata Valley runners. Robert Walker placed first overall in both long jump and triple jump. Based on these results the West Branch boys are working hard this early on in the season.

Onto our West Branch girls team, the first event was the 100-meter hurdles. Jessica Batcho played first overall in this event with an ending time of 18.83. Ciara Condon played second against Juniata Valley and third against Southern Fulton. Ciara Condon stated, “ I think this year we have a super strong team and can do well throughout the season.” The West Branch hurdlers are looking very promising for our 2024 season. Sophomore, Natalie Yingling had a successful race placing first against Southern Fulton and second place against Juniata Valley. West Branch had a bright day for their field events. Marley Croyle, Madison McDowell, Jessica Batcho, and Jordan Walker all had first place placing in the meet at Juniata Valley. All of the Warriors are seeing good results in their placing and will continue to do so throughout the season.
