As the fall season quickly approaches, thoughts of new adventures and ideas for friends are trending all over the Internet. TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram posts are full of fall trends, some are worth it and some are not. I’m here to help sort through the do’s and don’ts of this season’s fall trends.
TOP 12 TRENDS
DO Go apple picking. Find a nearby orchard and pick apples for any kind of fun food. I recommend Way Fruit Farm in Port Matilda.
DON’T Overdo fall pictures, overdressing is not necessary! Keep the look simple and demure, this could be as easy as leggings with a cute sweater, or even a flannel over top of a sweatshirt with jeans.
DO Go to nearby fall festivals and give everything a try. For ideas, check out Kyla Kephart’s article on fall festivals.
DON’T Live through a screen. Go outside and enjoy the fall weather. This could be something as simple as just sitting on your porch and reading a book or going on a nature walk.
DO Go pumpkin picking! It’s perfect for capturing cute pictures. I recommend Wasson Farm at 2545 Shingletown Road in State College, but keep in mind their pumpkin-picking season ends on October 29th.
DON’T Carve pumpkins too early. The warm weather will rot your pumpkins well before Halloween! Wait until at least mid October.
DO Try new recipes. If you do the apple picking, try making fresh applesauce, apple pie or apple cider!
DON’T Dread the cold weather! There are always things to do inside the house like decorate the living room with pumpkins, ghost pillows, candles or watch scary movies!
DO Have a bonfire. Make s’mores, tell scary stories, or cook mountain pies.
DON’T Miss out on the pumpkin spice season! My personal favorite is the Pumpkin Chai Latte from Dunkin’ Donuts. If you love Dunkin’, be sure to read Skyler Hebel’s article about their new and returning pumpkin drinks!
DO Go to a Friday night football game. The thrill of Warrior Nation and excitement from the crowd helps to get the team going. The homecoming game is September 27th!
DON’T Miss out on haunted thrills. This includes haunted houses, haunted hayrides, and haunted walks. A good place for a haunted house would be Ravenwood Manor in Houtzdale which is about 40 minutes away.
All of these DO fall ideas are fun ways to take on the season. You can do these with friends, family, or even by yourself.
