West Branch welcomes Mrs. Sadie Dickson to the High School English Department. You have likely seen her among the new faces this year or may already know her, as she previously taught High School Public Speaking and 8th-grade English at the middle school.
Mrs. Dickson graduated from Curwensville High School before heading to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her degree in Secondary Education. Her first job was in Virginia, teaching at Alleghany High School as a 9th-grade English teacher. Due to her love of teaching, Mrs. Dickson has taught for six years, with this year being her seventh. Her motivation for educating is that it is rewarding. She says, “it is always worth it when a previous student comes back and says that I made a difference in their life.”
Mrs. Dickson decided to move up from middle school because she feels most comfortable teaching older students. She enjoys the content of the upper grades and classes and has been looking forward to it this year. Mrs. Dickson currently teaches English 9, Public Speaking, and Career Writing. Next semester she will teach Intro to Drama, American Literature, Advanced Composition, and English 9. Mrs. Dickson loves the students and the capability to grow, so she is enjoying the challenge of adjusting to a period schedule rather than a block schedule.
Outside of school, Mrs. Dickson is a professional photographer at J+S Photography. Besides having a growing photography business, Mrs. Dickson stays busy taking care of her children, Sutton and Ember. Her daughter Ember was born this past June. She has been happily married to John Dickson, her photography partner, for six years.
Warrior Watch welcomes Mrs. Dickson and her unique projects and outstanding teaching to the High School English Department. Warrior Watch is optimistic about what she has in store for the West Branch community.
