Coming to the halfway point of the season, the Boys’ Basketball team boasts an impressive record of 12-1. Despite their only loss being the second game of the season against River Valley, the team has won every game since. Many players have contributed to the team’s success.

In one of their most recent victories against Curwensville, Junior Dylan McGonigal scored a career-high of 35 points. The Warriors won with a score of 84-54. Senior Lukas Colton praised McGonigal, saying, “Dylan is the GOAT. If he’s open around the perimeter, you better watch out. He can rain threes left and right. Also, watch your head top because he can yam it all over you. In all seriousness though, he is a huge help to our success and his future is very bright. We are very glad to have someone like him on the team, he is very reliable.”

Over Christmas break, the Warriors were the winners of the PO Christmas Challenge. They defeated Bald Eagle 67-42 in the first round, during which Coach Danny Clark received his 200th win of his career. This is Clark’s 13th season coaching; an achievement nothing short of remarkable. To complete the tournament, the team beat Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy 72-55 to bring home gold. McGonigal was named to the All-Tournament Team, and senior Owen Koleno was named the tournament MVP.

Many players have been averaging career highs this season. Koleno averages 23.8 points per game. Although Koleno has proven he can score in every way, he also averages 2.6 assists and 8.5 rebounds a game. Senior Joel Evans averages a double-double, achieving a career high with 10 rebounds a game. Besides his rebounding stats, he averages 15.1 points per game, validating he can dominate in many ways. Senior Lukas Colton has been averaging his career-high of 5.1 assists. He consistently makes the right passes at the right moments.

The first half of the season has been nothing short of spectacular for the boys’ basketball team. The effort, dedication, and commitment of the players and coaches are why the team is continuing to reach success. The Warriors will continue to prove why they were the District 6 PIAA AA Champions last season and will be looking to win it again for the 2024-2025 season.
