Hoppers slammed U.S. theaters on March 6, 2026. The movie generated $88 Million globally, including $46 in North America. It surpassed Coco (2017) to become the best-performing Pixar Original film in 9 years. With strong reviews and a 94% Rotten Tomatoes Score, this is a must-see film this spring.
Hoppers is a fun-loving environmental movie for the entire family to enjoy. The story follows a young girl named Mabel who has always wanted to save animals. Her grandma was her role model, always trying to help Mabel take care of and watch the animals surrounding the family’s pond. After her grandma’s death, Mabel is now in her freshman year of college. Threatened by Mayor Jerry Generazzo, initially planning to destroy the glade Mabel used to call home, she develops a plan to stop the mayor. After discovering her professor’s secret robots, Mabel sneaks into the lab and uses technology to transform her consciousness into the body of a beaver. She communicates with other animals to save the animals’ glade and her grandma’s pond, ultimately rallying the animal kingdom to face human threats. Eventually, saving the glade from humankind and bringing the animal kingdom back into the glade.
However, no movie is perfect; some parents reported that the last 45 minutes of the movie appeared to be “too dark,” with some elements described as body horror elements. In contrast, many said Hoppers was good for children, claiming the movie taught an important lesson on man vs. nature.
“I personally thought it was a pretty decent movie. It’s not one of my top 10 movies, but it was a pretty good movie. I would recommend it to anyone to watch. My favorite part was when the beaver gets almost eaten by a bear, but the main character stops it!” said Carter Yingling.
Hoppers is currently still playing at theaters and is not available on any streaming services, but will be on Disney+ mid to late June.
