Homecoming week is here, bringing a full week of activities, competitions, and events for students to enjoy, culminating in the traditional homecoming dance on Saturday, October 3rd. After being nominated by their teachers and senior classmates, the HOCO court was announced on September 25 during the WBTV morning broadcast. The court members are Raegan Correll, Juliette Hall, McKenzie Harbold, Alexandria McCamley, and Emily Shingledecker. The king nominees are Conner Danko, Max Gibson, Hansen Lannen, Jacob Tiracorda, and Evan Wooster.
Spirit Week begins on September 27. Even if you’re not on the homecoming court, you can still participate in Spirit Week and help get the school in the spirit of homecoming. Student government teamed up with the West Branch cheerleaders to plan Pajama Day, Anything But a Backpack Day, White Lies Shirt Day, Biker vs. Surfer Day, and Red, White, and Blue Day. Join in the fun with these festive theme days; just ensure that all outfits are school-appropriate, and avoid metal objects for Anything But a Backpack Day.
The homecoming football game against Curwensville will take place on October 2 with kick-off scheduled for 7:00pm. During halftime, the court will enter the stadium in classic cars, convertibles, and other vehicles, where the previous year’s winners will crown the 2026 West Branch Homecoming King and Queen.
Ending the week, the semiformal homecoming dance will be held in the high school cafeteria on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:00pm. Students can purchase tickets in Ms. McClelland’s room 207 for $10 each. Students who are bringing a guest from a different school must also fill out a form from the office. Student government advisor, Mrs. McGonigal, shares her excitement for this year’s homecoming: “I am very excited to see how the intergalactic theme will come together for our Homecoming dance. Spirit Week leading up to homecoming is always such a fun time, so to have such an interesting and different theme for our dance just adds to the excitement of everything Homecoming-related. This year’s Homecoming events will definitely be something to remember.”
