Junior Joel Evans has been selected as the Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on 2/9/24. Joel has been a key part of the boys’ basketball team’s success, starting as a forward for the team this season. Last week, he had a double-double in the game against Glendale, putting up 15 points and 11 rebounds. Then, on Thursday, he missed having back-to-back double-double games by one point, ending the night with 9 points and 12 rebounds against St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy. To end the exceptional week, Joel then had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals in Friday’s game against Moshannon Valley.

Fellow teammate Owen Koleno had a lot to say about Joel’s performance this season. “Joel is a great rebounder and defender for us. It’s nice to have an athletic guy on the inside like him as other teams struggle to score on us, and a lot of that is credited to him,” Koleno exclaimed. Joel looks to have a great postseason, which will start this Friday night at Claysburg-Kimmel.
