The student government club has decided to keep the same changes that they made last year with the announcement of the king and queen. The only change this year is instead of seven females and males on the court, there will be five of each this year. This year’s Homecoming court nominees are Landon Lopez, Lukas Colton, Joel Evans, Joey Kovalcin, and Owen Koleno. The girl nominees are Addison Wessel, Chelsey Wesesky, Madison Gray, Makiya Mack, and Sarah Guglielmi. Make sure to vote for who will be crowned king and queen. You can vote by the Google doc sent to your school email by Miss McClelland.
Spirit Week festivities will start on Monday, September 23rd, and end on Friday, September 26th. Monday’s theme will be pj day so wear comfy pj’s and a favorite robe to school. Because it was such a hit last year, Tuesday’s theme will be anything but a backpack day. Be creative and think outside the box or, in this case, the backpack. Wednesday will be country versus country club. Wear a flannel and cowboy boots or sport a tennis skirt or polo shirt. Thursday is white lie t-shirt day. Get a blank white shirt and a Sharpie and come up with a fun lie to put on a shirt. Lastly, Friday will be Red, White, and Blue Day. Wear as much red, white, and blue to support West Branch. Junior, Brielle Bainey says, “I love to do all of the spirit week themes, and I love to see how creative people are and what they come up with.”
On Friday the 26th, the traditional West Branch Homecoming Pep Rally will take place at the end of the school day. Members of the court, teachers, staff members, and other volunteers will participate in competitive games during this time.
The West Branch Warrior football team will take on the Curvenswille Golden Tide for Friday night lights. The student government club has decided to keep the homecoming King and queen crowning the same as last year and the 2024 winners will be crowned during the halftime show at the game. Miss McClelland said,” I am looking forward to watching everyone embrace their school spirit and make core memories that they will always have to look back on. This week is such a busy yet fun week and I am looking forward to making memories with my Warrior family!’’
The homecoming dance will be on Saturday, September 27th, from 6-9 pm. Doors will open at 5:30 pm. The student government club decided on the theme “Under the Stars”. The dance will be semi-formal. Girls wear short formal dresses and boys wear a button-down shirt with a tie or bowtie. Homecoming dance ticket sales are going on now through the 26th. The tickets are priced at eight dollars a ticket.
Don’t forget to vote for this year’s king and queen and pick up your tickets in Miss. McClelland’s room!
