Tis’ the Season for Giving

Tis+the+Season+for+Giving

During this time of year, the staff at West Branch Area School District gives back. The staff donates gifts to a charity, called “The Giving Tree”.

“The Giving Tree” is a tree sponsored by the Moshannon Valley YMCA that has different ornaments on it. Each ornament has a child’s name, age, and a wishlist that that child would like Santa to bring them this Christmas. This is to help families in need during the holiday season to provide gifts for kids who might be less fortunate.

The WBHS staff uses the money they have from paying to dress down every Friday to buy the children gifts. They are assigned different items, such as clothes and toys, to buy as gifts. Then, Mrs. Hubler and members of the staff buy the gifts, wrap them,  and take them to the YMCA. The YMCA loads a tractor-trailer full of gifts and takes them to a local fire hall and the parents come and pick up the gifts to give to their children on Christmas.
