Male Athlete of the Week: Landon Bainey

Landon Bainey stands out on Warrior Wrestling team after placing first at the Panther Holiday Classic Tournament.

Landon Bainey has been named the Male Athlete of the Week of Warrior Watch for the week ending on 12/17/22. Landon Bainey competed at the Panther Holiday Classic Tournament held at Mount Aloysius College and placed first. 

The tournament was on December 16th-17th and included 39 high schools. Landon wrestled in the 114-pound weight class and entered the competition as the first seed. Bainey pinned his opponent in the round of 32 in less than a minute, moving him to the round of 16. Landon went on to pin his next opponent in the second period advancing him to the quarter-finals. 

Bainey wrestled the 8th seed and won by a majority decision (8-0). During the semi-finals, his match lasted no longer than a minute when Landon got his third pin. Making his way to the finals, Landon won by decision (3-0), placing first.

Teammate Scott Smeal explains, “Landon is a very hard worker, and always giving 100%.”
