Female Athlete of the Week: Makena Moore

Makena Moore winds-up to throw a pitch to the plate during a home game.

Makena Moore, a sophomore at West Branch, has been selected as the Female Athlete of the Week ending on 4/01/23. Makena is one of the starting pitchers for the Lady Warrior Softball team. This past week, on March 28th, Makena threw a no-hitter against Moshannon Valley. She pitched the entire game, ending with 14 strikeouts. Moore is also good on the offensive side of the diamond. She is third on the team batting average with 0.400 and in second place with two hits. So far in the season, people have only obtained a hit 18% of the time when Moore is pitching.

“Makenna is an amazing pitcher and she is always putting 100% effort in when we play,” says senior teammate Kamryn MacTavish.

Favorite fast food: Chick-fil-A

Favorite memory: Bus rides home from games after they win

Age started playing: 8 

Future Plans: Go to college for Business and Accounting

Biggest Goal for the season: Win districts and have at least 100 strikeouts by the end of the regular season.
