The West Branch choir and concert band have worked hard since the beginning of the school year to work on pieces for the upcoming Christmas concerts. The band concert will be on December 8th at 7 p.m, and the choir concert will be on December 6th at 7 p.m, both in the auditorium. It is free admission for anyone interested in attending either one of the concerts.

Mr. Jones and the Senior High band are working on six pieces for the show. The show will include the following songs: “Down A Country Lane,” arranged by Aaron Copland, “Psalm 42” composed by Samuel R. Hazo, “Christmas Island,” organized by James Kazik, “Enter Sandman,” by Metallica and arranged by Paul Murtha, “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Gary Hoey, and “Monster Mash” arranged by Mike Story. The Senior High band will dedicate Psalm 42 to English teacher Sadie Dickson and her family. There will also be a place to donate to her and her family.

The Junior High band is working on four songs for the concert. These songs include “Creatures in the Attic,” by Brian Balmages, “A Christmas Gloria,” by Robert E. Foster Jr., “Dragon Slayer,” by Rob Grice, and “Carol of the Bells,” organized by Gary Hoey. To end the band concert, the Senior and Junior High bands will join together to play “Carol of the Bells.” The Senior High band has 28 members, and the Junior High has 71 members.

Mr. Stilson’s choirs have been working on several pieces for the concert. The senior high will be singing three songs. These are: “Simple Gifts” and “For Christmas,” by Shaker Hymn and Greg Gilpin, “Snoopy’s Christmas” by Hugo & Luigi and George David Weiss, and “Sleigh Ride,” by Ades and Parish & Anderson.

The Junior High choir is singing two songs, “Snowtime Fantasy,” by Dave & Jean Perry, and “A Cold Snap,” by J. Jacobson & W. Jack. The choirs will also be singing three songs together. These songs are “Snow!” (A Winter Medly), by Teena Chin, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” by Johnny Marks, and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” by English Carol. The Senior High choir has 16 members, and the Junior High has 30 members. Make sure to try and come out to listen to these young musicians!
